Abby Jayne Spades is a passionate advocate for impacting and sharing experiences with others through music. She believes that music has completely shaped and molded her life, and doesn’t know where she would be without it. Therefore, she is determined to “pay it forward” to as many as she can so that music can change their lives the way it did hers. Abby Jayne is a graduate of Jonesboro High School and is currently attending Samford University in pursuit of a Commercial Music degree with a minor in Marketing. Her primary instrument is voice, specifically in the Jazz, Rock, Gospel, Singer/Songwriter, and Worship genres.
From as early as her terrible twos, Abby Jayne could be heard matching pitch and harmonizing with her vacuum and microwave, watching only musical cartoons, and singing everywhere she went. In her hometown of Jonesboro, AR, she soon began getting involved in her local community theater and performance classes. Between the ages of eight and eighteen, Abby Jayne performed in over twenty-five musical productions, as well as performed on Disney World and Universal stages as part of their arts programs. She also was able to direct and produce a Christmas Music Show her senior year, working alongside some of her best friends, and learning more about production and truly spearheading a project while doing so. Starting at around the age of thirteen, she plugged into her youth group at First United Methodist Church by leading worship, and officially joined staff a couple years later to lead and co-direct worship for both main Sunday services and the youth program. Abby Jayne also loved the opportunity of getting to work with Jenny Powers, and being cast in her and Matt Cavenaugh’s production of Ragtime as Evelyn Nesbit with the LinkTheatre company.
During her junior year of high school, Abby Jayne decided to join her high school choir and absolutely loved getting to work in such a different type of environment from what she was used to. She was able to participate in All-Region and All-State, performing a solo in both final performances. She quickly learned after working in groups like choir and worship team that she wanted to work in a group of the same sort later on in her career, as opposed to performing as a solo act. She believes that nothing can match the bond that a musical group holds, both in the relationships formed from it or the music that it produces.
Abby Jayne is part of Samford's Campus Worship team and is so excited invest in as many more social and music-oriented events as possible. She plans to eventually be involved in the worship or commercial performance field after graduating, as well as working in production, creating, and collaborating with other artists!
